YES. 100% ROAD LEGAL. In Ireland, e-bikes are sometimes confused with electric scooters but are in fact legally classified as a totally different mode of transport.
The Lectro range is manufactured to the highest international standards, surpassing the EU certification EN15194 required by e-bikes for European Road Use.
As per EU law for EPACs , the motor is limited to speeds of 25kph, at which point the motor disengages and you can continue cycling without assistance.
As the Lectro range is classified as an Electronically Power Assisted Cycle (EPAC) by EU and Irish law, they are 100% road legal and DO NOT REQUIRE TAX, INSURANCE OR NUMBER PLATES.
No driving licence is required and anybody over the age of 14 can legally ride an e-bike. While helmets are not mandatory, we do recommend a cycle helmet and hi-viz clothing is worn, as with cycling a regular bicycle
